For first time in the history of Namdapha Tiger Reserve, a survey and camera trapping team reached Daphabum peak at an altitude of 4000m msl in the search of the elusive mountain ghost, the Snow Leopard under the Project Snow Leopard of MoEF&CC. It took a total of 15 days for the team to install the cameras in the field and return to the headquarter. It was a blissful experience to observe the high altitude flora and fauna of Namdapha Tiger Reserve. The team observed various pine species like Abies delyavi, species of spruce, different varieties of Rhododendrons, Bamboo and the pristine high altitude grasslands consisting many colorful flowering plants. The team observed the elusive Mishmi Takins, Weasel, Pika, Musk Deer, Blood Pheasant etc from the region. Although the terrain was arduous, no journey is a challenge untill you face it. The Namdapha Tiger Reserve is thankful to it's technical partner WWF-India, Department of Environment and Forests, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Hon'ble Minister Kamlung Mosang for the logistic support. and all the well wishers who prayed for the safe return of the team.
